Basic Technical Requirements
The following is simply a guideline for prospective Presenters which
sets out the minimum technical requirements necessary for a staging of
SNOWSHOW. A more detailed Technical Rider will be sent at such point as
the Presenter is confident of the suitability of the venue proposed. At
this point also, the Presenter should send full technical
specifications and plans (1:25 or 1:50) with photos (if possible) to
the Company for review. Please include a rough schedule of performances
(with times) proposed.
" Open air venues, tents, or rooms temporarily equipped
as theatres are inappropriate for this production.
" Ideal auditorium seating capacity ranges from 500 to
1,500 people. Please note that if the auditorium is very wide, there
may be sight line difficulties. (As a very rough guideline, the first
few rows should not contain more than 30 seats).
" It may be necessary to remove seats to accommodate
control desks, follow spots etc. Please check before placing
performances on sale.
" It should be noted (and advertised as such) that the
production is not recommended for children under 8 years old. Likewise,
the production is not suitable for school groups.
" Stage sizes: Proscenium height: 6m (min.)
Proscenium width: 9m (min.)
Stage depth: 9m (min.)
Stage width: 13m (min.)
Auditorium height: 8m (min.)
" 25 bars are required to hang the company's drapes,
lights and special effects. Ideally these should be on a counterweight
system.
" The distance between the downstage hanging bar (
carrying the House Curtain or first set of legs) and the front edge of
the stage is critical and should not be more than 2.5m. Likewise, the
distance between the front of the stage and the first row of seats
should be as close as possible (not more than 1.5m). In the event that
there is an orchestra pit which cannot be used for seating purposes,
such area should be covered over and will be used as a forestage
extension to the acting area.
" Sufficient power to supply a typical first class
touring lighting rig with separate (clean) supply for a comprehensive
first class sound system. Where this equipment is to be supplied
locally, detailed specification sheets are available.
